DescriptionPaul Kelly meeting Nick Cave in Jim Morrison’s bathroom – that’s one way to describe KAHOOTZ. Led by singer Alistair King, the KAHOOTZ sound centres around rhythmic acoustic rock, spiced with a little funk, reggae and country. Organ and sax add a lushness which contrasts with the often angst-ridden, heartfelt lyrics. KAHOOTZ is not a teenage band – there’s a few grey hairs here, but also plenty of real life experience – women, regrets, love and loss – as well as a suggestion of redemption. The band features: Josh Symons – bass John Dunton - drums Keith Sykes – electric guitar Denis Callachor – keys Tim Manson - sax Alistair's introspective, sometimes moody, sometimes soaring songs have taken him to the finals of the Darebin Song Writing Competition and the Maldon Folk Festival Song Contest. Alistair is currently recording a CD with Hugh McDonald (Redgum). The band is gigging regularly around Melbourne at small to medium venues. Catch them live for the KAHOOTZ experience.
